Pollyanna McIntosh

Pollyanna McIntosh is a native of Scotland. She was born in Portugal, Colombia and then returned to Scotland. That's where she started performing on stage at The Edinburgh Festival. At the age of 16, she relocated to London, where she soon got involved in indie filmmaking. (Her first paid gig on The Acid House was as an actor with Irvine Welsh (1998)). In addition, she has been involved in theatre, as an actor and director. In 2004, she moved to Los Angeles to direct "The Woolgatherer" which was a stage play in which Anne Dudek (a regular guest on Mad Men (2007)/Big Love (2006)) was directed. The play was praised by critics. Her first US movie role was as "Stacy" who was a manipulative and reborn Christian who appeared in Headspace (2005). She was then cast as "Thumper Wint", a wild, born-again Christian in Sex and Death 101 (2006) (Simon Baker/Winona Rider), by Heathers (1988). The critics were amazed by her unique mix of sensuality and irreverent humor. In both LA as well as London, Exam (2009) was the next one, nominated BAFTA-nominated as Outstanding British Debut and winner of Best Independent at the Santa Barbara Film Fest, the film's critics said that Pollyanna's character was "smart and sassy in equal parts ....the emotional heart of the movie" praised her capacity to identify the "emotional vulnerability" of her supposedly powerful and tough character. GQ simply stated "stunning Pollyanna McIntosh is an extremely talented actress". Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it! ), is a hilarious South American farce in which she plays Brit actor Trevor Lock's disgruntled wife. She is fluent in Spanish throughout the film, which was shot in Peru. In Burke and Hare (2010), directed by John Landis, she plays Isla Fisher's bestie , along with Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Jessica Hynes, Tom Wilkinson and Tim Curry. Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011), which she played the leading role , was praised by critics at Sundance 2011. It also won the New York Times' readers top film poll.
